Default doorlock pump

i am getting ready to fix a pump on a friends car that is out of town and i have not been able to get a look at the pump that is on the car for the door locks, it is a 98 A4 wagon, i am taking a quess that it is the pump that is bad, i found a pump from a 98 jetta, here are a couple pics of the pump i got from the boneyard, can anyone confirm if this pump will work in the A4, the part # on the tan cover is 1HO 962 257F

That should work perfectly. Since the Audi door alarm is intergrated into that unit I would pull the pump out of that unit and put it into his cars unit so you don't end up having any reprograming issues. Here's a pic of what the inside of the unit looks like (with my old destroyed pump). I fixed by just putting in a junkyard pump only.

ok i have the cover off and the circuit board out, are you telling me to take the pump apart or remove the 3 screws that hold the pump "cover" on and remove the disc, i believe that is what you want me to do as it looks like the circuit board is wired to the pump motor. thanks for your help

You can either move the discs over or move the whole pump. Both should work.

a little more assistance please, when i take the cover off the pump, the disc with the 3 vanes does not want to slide off the shaft, if i want to remove the whole pump there are 4 rubber "plugs" that hold the pump in place, do you know how to release the plugs to take the pump out thanks

I had to cut the rubber plugs off, and I just used zip ties to hook the new one in. A little ghetto I know, but it works like a champ.

ok i push the plugs through the plastic housing and the the pump and circuit board are out, when i get to the A4 all i need to do is cut the 2 wires from the board to the pump and splice the replacement pump, cool this will be a great fix considering the unit at the boneyard was only $8.00 thanks for all the help
