Default i need help with lowering kit...

I am in the process of buying an 02 or 03Audi A4 1.8T and want to do all of the modifications the day that I get it. I am going to get 17 or 18" rims, and want to lower the car. I want to know what is the best way to do this, and how much is the lowering kit going to cost. I would be installing this kit myself. Please let me know. What would I need besides lowering springs, etc???

$250 to $350 for springs only or $1000 or more for a strut & spring set up. you might hane to order your wheels because alot of shops dont stock the bolt patterns that audis use. the lowering kits are pretty easy to install given you have the appropriate tools. good luck and welcome to audiforums.

I'm new to cars, I am usually working on lifted trucks, and am very unfamiliar with cars suspensions. Do you only need the lowering springs, or are complete kits necessary???

either one will do. if you want a stiffer "race" style suspension then get a spring/strut combo, if money is an issue or if you dont mind a softer supension then just buy springs. keep in mind that either kit will be stiffer than the stock susp.

im runnin 19's with about a 3.5 in drop
lower it first then buy rims so they can test fit.

17,18, or 19's aren't going to make a difference. its all about how wide they are, thats where you run into problems when you lower the car.

Yeah you would. Your old shocks will bust in a few months, especially with a big drop. You can either get springs + shocks, that sit at a certain height, or for alittle more you can get coilovers where you can adjust the height to anything you want.
