Default Tranny and exhaust

Hey all, well it turns out I have to pull the tranny and get it rebuild. So in the process of that I have picked up a 3inch downpipe and im planning to go downpipe to cats then straight pipe back from that. Would you guys say this is a bad Idea I know you need back pressure is this a bad idea will I lose power?

No, you will be fine. No need to worry about backpressure, the turbo itself provides plenty.

I was having problems with putting the car in gear. It would also make a "nut in a metal can" sound when driving in gear. I took it to my friends shop and he thinks it might be syc's or bearing issues. He is taking it over to a tranny place to see what they have to say about and i will keep you guys posted. Im getting a pretty good hook up on the labor though he is going to charge 400.00 thats decent right? I think its clocked at 7hoursin the repair book. I might also be doing my clutch. On a another note doesnt all German cars put in the round high performace cats unlike normal cars with the oval shaped ones. We were planning to use the stock one since it tappers into the cat and cutting it at 3".
