Default How to tell if you have a chip?

Hi, I'm new to this forum as well as being new to the audi 1.8t engine. I just bought a 2000 audi tt (180 fwd) with 60000 miles on it and was wondering how to tell what has been done to the car, I would like to know if it has been chipped, new dv valve, ect... Primarily I would like to know if it was chipped. like I said im not familar with the engine but it seems to have quite a bit of torque for a 1.8t. Ive previously owned a chrysler conquest which i had done quite a bit of work to, and this new audi seems to feel about as torquey (if thats even a word) any help would be appreciated. thanks, jeremy

well you already have 180hp and 170 ftlbs so thats tons for a 1.8L engine. But get a boost gauge in and if it reads 11psi you are stock and if it reads 15-20 you have a chip.

the dv is a plastic peice from the factory. start at your airbox and work towards the back of your engine where the turbo is and you will see it. it will be attached to a hose that goes to the ic piping across the back of your engine near the firewall.
