Default Waves from a newbie, and the obligatory questions :)

Greetings and salutations all

due to the impending arrival of junior, my old and beloved porsche has been sold off, and I looked around for something to replace it - I had bought my wife a nice A4 and we liked that. By chance I came across an older, 1997 A8 that i thought would do me fine for the summer.
(I rarely use a car for work - two wheels is faster in our traffic!)

So, bought it, love it, and now want to sort out a few niggles.....

First off - the cigarette lighters, front and rear, vanity lights in the sun visors and the front reading lights do not work. I have pulled and checked every fuse that I can find, and all are ok - can some one enlighten me as to what I am overlooking?

Second, one of the headlight washers is missing its nozzle - no biggie, but the water from the bottle does run out of it and needs topping up every day - untill I can find another one (I am gussing I have to replace the whole unit...) anyone ever found a way of just blanking it off?

Finally - the built in satnav - how do i find out which one I have model wise so I can see about getting some more upto date maps....

Cheers in advance

Pete

If you have the owner's manual, double check that there isn't a fuse missing, for the ciggy/vanity lights. If you don't have one, check eBay, or order one from Bentley Publishing.

Until you can find a replacement nozzle, I'd say poke around under the front bumper to locate teh hose for your h/l washer and tie it in a knot, or maybe jam a cut-down pencil eraser in there (make sure it's slightly larger in diameter than the inside diameter of teh hose, so it'll stay put).

Can't help you with teh satnav question. Have you tried rubbing your magic lamp and asking the djinn to take care of it??
