Help! I have an A6 Quattro '97 wagon with 164,000 miles on it. Twice, while driving the turn signals, headlights, wipers and lights in the middle of the dash above the steering wheel have gone out. Parking lights stay on. At night the headlights and dash lights dim slightly periodically and then brighten. Yesterday the turn signals, etc. went out and when I pulled in the driveway and put the car in PARK the engine made an incredible racket. I put it back in DRIVE and then in PARK; same thing. I put it in REVERSE and then PARK--fine; but still no lights, wipers, etc. I turned it off and then back on--lights; wipers etc all working! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH....I need help!

 

sounds like the ignition switch went out but the racket may be a diffrent problem. I t could also be the switch assembly
