Default 1995 A6 Radio/Cassette player

Ok, I figured out how to remove the radio. The problem with the radio (besides it having a cassette/no CD player) is that I can turn it on, turn it up but when I turn the volume down, the unit loses power and recovers in about 3 seconds after removing my hand from the volume control.

Can I replace the cassette/radio with an OEM CD/Radio and retain the features of the current unit? (i.e. data, phone, remote)

Thanks!

Not exactly sure what you are talking about. All data will be lost as soon as unit is unplugged. Remote, which one? To operate the unit? Get another one with remote.

Don't you have a CD changer in the trunk?

Mine has the same issue. It could be a dirty volume pot. Spraying some contact cleaner in there and twisting alot might help.

I believe the Audi volumn control is PLL not a pot. It is common for it to fail. There used to be a guy in Fla that would fix it for a small fortune. I also seemed to remember someone from South of Boston advertising Audi radio repair for someplace around $100-- You'll need to do an internet search to find them if they are still around..
