Hey guys, New 2 the forum and also new to the Audi world. I recently got my hands on an '00 S4 135K and the alternator just took a crap! Before I start the job of replacing I figured I'd ask U guys for sum help since the alternator seems to be in such a precarious spot. Hopefully you guys can give some insight as to how to get at it without wasting too much time. Thanks in advance............... John

 

looks to me you have to remove the front bumper as in when you do the timing belt unless you can get at it from under the car

Like Dave said. Put the car in "service mode" remove the serp. belt and take the alt. out from under the car. OR you could get rid of your car and buy mine, the alternator works!!!

 

Thanks guys, I got the bumper off and used the long bolts to support the core support. Thanks for takin the time to help me out!

By the way is "service mode" this particular scenario? ie bumper off etc...?

 

Pretty much bumper and front carrier pannel off, headlights n such
