The heated driver's seat in my 1997 A4 malfunctioned and burned through the seat and burned clothing. I contacted Audi customer service and was told to bring it to my local dealer. The dealer confirmed the problem however Audi Customer Service refused responsibility for the cost of the heater and seat approx. $700.00. This is a very serious safety hazard and I am disappointed by the lack of concern from Audi.

My 98 A4 is doing the same thing. It only comes on full heat regardless of the seatting - damn hot.

Did yours burn when it was set to off (o) or when on (1 too 6)?

I have a 96 A4 that has just started to do the same thing, any setting from 1

to 6 and it gets too hot to sit on very quickly. Did they tell you what was

causing the problem, i.e. was it the switch or the sensor?

DONT SPILL liquids on the seats.. Driving with a coke between your legs ??? The moisture gets thru.

That is the #1 cause for this.

And to let ya know, it is a very very very rare.
