A4 luver/owner
hey whats up yeah im new here ive got a 97 A4 1.8t AEB engine 1 bar chip fuel regulator HKS intake and moddified exhaust Koni ajustible shocks intrax springs

what i did with the exhaust is cut out the first muffler(theres two) and welded an 18 inch piece in the void on one side and clamped it on the other it sounds pretty mean too, though not too loud ive never heard of this done before but it worked for me

my thoughts on the hks intake and every other intake you van buy for this car they suck they have insufficient heat sheilds and dont do to much for you my advice unless your going to custom fabricate a cold air kit(like im working on)just get a k&n filter for the original airbox will keep you intake temp down better

love the konis would like stiffer springs though

No prob so far ive got severely burnt fingers and alot of melted tubing my welder is about 25 years or more old doesnt even have a fan. I get the bead 60% of the way around and all hell brakes loose i could probly wait 20 mins for it to cool but id rather just keep goin and when the rod welds itself to the tube and i start smelling burnt flesh i usualy throw it across the garage(the tubing) which on one occation landed in the trash and started smoking furiously. so if i can get my welder to cooperate and my anger under controll it might be done in a month. if anyone attempts this dont use stainless the rods are too damn expensive. Or if you want to go the quasi ghetto way you can use RS Akimoto spiral flex intake tubing from Summit Racing @ $90 bucks for a 4 foot section ive never heard of anyone using this so ill give no garantees

Me id rather have the bragin rights and say yeh i made thatgot the scars to prove it

also anyone know where you can get intake or any kind of tubing that would suffice let me know im using intake tubing off anjunked mack truck

How much do you stand to gain from all this work? In Germany, they just rewrite the software in the car, like adjust the spark advance.

you probly could if you have an eprom burner ,but without indepth knowlegde ofthe limitations of the engine and the posibilty of having my valvesget the **** beaten out of them by my pistons i think ill let the factory setting the way they are.

Also like i said earlyer its more for bragin rights than anything my car is my only hobby and if i was just to go out and buy some pre-fabed part that i can make myself it wouldnt be the same I take some pride in working on my car and building it up. but maybe thats as foreign to you as i am, i dunno thats my storry and im stickin too it.
