Thanks guys! Some of you may remember that my new 2000 audi a6need a headrest pushbutton and now the headrest is stuck at the highest position. Today I got a new one. Now I found that in fact the housing of that button remained attached in the headrest and only the movable button inside the housing was missing. The attached picture may help me understood. Sorry, somewhat fuzzy. So now I have to take the broken one out and put the new one in. Anybody knows the "correct"/"in the manual way" to do it? Sorry my manual is still on its way to me but I want to fix it ASAP. From how the new button look like, I could more or less guess how to take it out but I don't want to make a mistake. I would wait for your repair manual, there are different types that have to be put in a certain way, don't wanna screw that up.

 

OK, my manual hasn't come in yet but I took out the broken one very easily. But I can't put the new one in. However, I think I see the locking mechanism inside, which is a piece of plastic that can go up and down (supposedly by thebutton).But when I use ascrew driver to pull that plastic all the way up, the headrest doesn't go anywhere. Now I am afraid something inside is actually broken also.What do you guys think? Thank you very much!

 

Oh, well, I got it lowe down. Just push down the locking plastic. I went the wrong direction last time.
