Default 99 A6 avant windows and sunroof dead.

Hi everyone, new to this site and new to Audi ownership.bought my 1999 A6 Avant Quattro, mettalic black, tinted windows, loaded and beautiful, Problem is windows and sunroof have stopped working, windows down, sunroof closed! Driver side key also does not operate anything, power door locks dead. I think it is a grounding problem but I have no wiring diagram, Is there a pdf file of the diagram available and has anyone else ever had this problem and know the fix, i am desperate! thanks.

Check your fuses. Im betting you have a blown fuse for the comfort or convienince system. Thers some wires in the drivers and passengers seat that can cause it to blow.

All the fuses I checked seem good. Checking power in the driver door window switches, have power to some but most light up very dim, makes me think maybe ground problem. Lots of relays, boxes and switches in this car. Foundsigns of mouse nest under hood, scares the hell out of me!

Did you check all the fuses? There are some under the hood (left side near the firewall in th eblack box) and in the dash pannel when you open the drivers door.

Like everyone said I'd double check your fuses. Happens to my a6 approx every 3 months due to a lot of stereo wiring I think. I keep a box of 15a fuses in my door compartment cuz u never know when they'll blow. In the diagram I think the fuse is under int. Lights/dome...unless im wrong. Im sure your alarm don't activate either. And about your mice infestation...leave a small container full of antifreeze overnight by ur engine bay(just make sure it don't spill on electrical) and you'l knock the little bastards out

Update, wejumped full power to the dim power wire in the door, suddenly windows and sunroof work. Will try to trace wire back to origin. Anyone have this happen before?

No but id have to agree with the bad ground/control module idea. The module may have gotten wet causing grounding issues. All those switchs eventually wind up going to that module and if its not responding to the scan tool, thats a pretty good place to start investigating.

Just bought the Bentley publishing 1998 thru 2000 Audi A6 electrical wiring manual from Amazon for $48.00. Has anyone ever used this manual and is a good, acurate diagrams of the wiring? Hopefully the color codes are acurate so I can trace wiring.
