does this price sound right?
so, i was driving the other day and noticed my battery indicater light came on. i took it to the shop today for fear that my alternator was going bad. well, got a phone call today nd they told me my cam seals had leaked oil onto my alternator causing it to start going out. i am at 88k on my car and they said that they had to take the timing belt off to get to the seals and since i am at 88k, the would change the timing belt while in there. total price for alternator, cam seals, and timing belt replacement with water pump came to $1900. ouch! that hurts this time of year. does this all(price and reasons) sound right? the car is an 01 2.7t.
It actually sounds like a pretty good price to me as well. I don't see our cars as constantly sucking our wallets dry. The issue is the "must do's" like the timing belt. The "must do's" are costly but once they are done, it's pretty smooth sailing afterwards.
