'98 2.8 ideled at 1100 rpm and now won't start
When i started my car today cranked for a longer period of time then usaul, and once the engine did turn over it ideled at 1100 rpm. I quickly shut off the engine and tried to start it once more to see if it was a temerary problem but it wouldn't start at all and the starter motor stopped after about a second. I had just changed the oil yesterday but i drove it shrotly afterwards without any problems. I am going to have my car towed to a shop in the morning but i was wondering if any of you all knew what the problem might be.
No i havn't tryed jumping the battery yet because i do not think that will solve my high idle problem. Plus i am afraid to run my car for any extended period of time because i am afraid of damaging the engine so the battery still wouldn't hold the charge after the jump. So i guess my main question now is, what could cause my car to idel 300 rpm above normal and cause the battery to lose it's charge?
A vaccum leak.
Its not gonna blow up the engine idling at 1100 RPM, the engine is designed to go all the way up to 7,000 RPM, so you're not gonna blow it up.
