so sick s4 but i am worried....
Hi everyone. I am in a position that i don't know what to do. I am looking at a lt. blue 2000 s4. It has been lowered, has 19" rims and brand new tires. I know 19's are to big for some but for me i love them. Anyways the car has 85900 miles on the car. Which that has me a little worried. I don't know the history on the car becuase the dealer bought it at an auction. I can buy a bumper to bumper warranty for 3yr/36000 for 3600. Seems like alot for the warranty but california passed some law that enables people to buy warrantys from seperate insurance dealers. So i am stuck with that price. Does anyone have a s4 with 120000+ miles on there car? Can anyone guess what might need to be fixed after my warranty is up? I am just trying to reassure myself before i buy. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. The s4 is the best car i have ever driven. I was in 5th gear @ 2700 and gave it gas. It pushed me back into the seat at low of rpm. I was blown away. You all that have s4 already are sooooooo lucky to have found out before i did.
Thanks Josh
I am hoping to buy the car within a couple of days max.

do you live in san luis obsispo, ca? if so, i think i know what s4 you are talking about...its at smith volvo, right? im not sure about that car...i talked to one of the salesman there and he said he wouldnt sell it to me cuz the transmission was acting funny when he drove it...it is a nice car tho not sure if i could live with that color...
So you are from S.L.O. Yes it is the s4 at the smith volvo. See that is why i am thinking about buy the warranty so if any does happen within the next three years it will be covered. Hopefully the tranny goes out, turbos die, ect. cause that way by the time the warranty is up i will have a new car. LOL. One of the main reasons i want that car is because of the color. I don't want a silver, black s4 cause that is the most common colors. So down here in SLO town there isn't alot of choices.
Did you hear anything else about that car that would make you worried.

ya i live in slo...ill be getting my s4 begining part of next month. the only other thing that i heard was the rearend was a bit "loose". I dunno you can buy it if youd like, however buying a higher mileage car always means more problems...and it might not necessarily be turbo or tranny...it could be electrical, etc...no offense but i couldnt live with that color in 6 months
So you are buying a s4 next month. Where are you going to buy yours. Maybe if i do get this car and you get yours we could get a couple more people and take a cruise to monterey or something.
I bought a 00' S4 with 47 thousand miles, and i bought a 3 year 50,000. mile warrenty for like $2,500.00.... it worked out like a dream, i got a new ECU and tranni already, the thing is the warrenty is only good for $12,000.00 and i've already spent like 6 in the first 8 months. but for sure get the warrenty and it might be smart to look around for a better deal, besides i would suggest maybe thinking about getting a stock S4, if the guy has 19" rims and lowered it already the previous owner might have put the car through some ****, like maybe he's some young kid who just thrashed the car, i bought mine from this 60 year old guy, haha i think he drov responsibly. O but about that warrenty, make sure it covers (twin turbos and all wheel drive) thats important and don't slack on it to save money get the best one you can you'll be happier later, good luck with that car.
im buyin my car down in laguna beach from a middle-aged guy who is selling it cuz he jsut bought a new a4 convert i think...its an 01 with 43k on it and hes asking 24,300...not to bad eh? im down for a cruise, but im gonna need a radar detector first hehe
