Default S4 2000 vs 2001-2002

is it true that the 2000 S4 is worse? since it was the first build of its kind? i read somewhere that the 2000 S4's tent to slip tranny gears. but the 2001-2002 have been "upgraded" and got ride of this problem. Is this true?

the shift collar for gears 1 and 2 tends to stick and the synchros(synchromeshing, a brass collar inside the gear) warp due too missed shifts etc. In the worst cast this will need a complete tranny rebuild because the transmission wont shift into 1 or 2 at all. If your lucky youll baby your transmission, never miss a shift, and come out all right. The problem is NOT year specific.

01.5 has numerous revisions such as f-hose, oil lines, bla bla bla, search your little heart out Yes 01.5 is better.

If you can pick out a 2001.5 or newer. In short 2001.5+ has M-box ECU for manual, no f-hose, revised TBB, different oil inlet lines, possibly changed shifter stalk, polished aluminum mirrors w/ sport package, new badge (trunk, steering wheel, guage cluster), and the Avant model. All 2001+ cars have the traction control button. Other than that the two are the exact same. Older means more miles, but thats specific to individual cars.
