Default middle arm rest

hey guys...

2000 b5 front middle arm rest... i let my little nephew play around in the ****-pit of my car for some dumb reason, anyways i turned around and he pulled the material up on the arm rest, it just looks like it might have been glued before, or maybe its just like that...

heres the question, can i just pop of that top lid and replace it? do i need to replace the entire thing... it doesn't look bad, i folded it back under, but its just kinda buggin me cuz i know that its damaged...

has anyone ever thought about maybe 're-leathering' the arm rest, maybe putting in a different material... just an idea

cheers

The arm rest just pulls off. Open it all the way and then rotate it, it should snap out of the hinges. I took mine to a car upholstery shop, and they replaced it for $50.

Wow, the same thing happened to me, except it wa a not a nephew that messed mine up, it was a drunk friend who messed it up. tired to glue it back down but it was no good. He actually broke the plastic that held the leatherette in place ontop of the lid though. I think I'll need full replacement, not just to have it re-apholstered.
