General Maintainence - advice, benefits?, oil/seafoam, ABS, etc...
My car: 2001 Audi A4 1.8TmQ - sport package. 104,xxx Miles.
+I want to replace the transmission fluid. Here is a link that i found about doing the job. this writeup is for a 2.8L i was wondering if the tool is the same one that is needed for the 2.8 as well as the 1.8T to remove the drain.

+Any reccomendations for types of gear oil for the front/rear differentials or any advice on doing those jobs? How much do i need?
+I have been doing research on Seafoam. I want to run a treatment in my crankcase. I am a little bit skeptical due to my mileage. I plan on doing an oil change within 250 or so miles after the Seafoam treatment. Any perks to this? i have read about the benefits but is there any solid evidence against using this in our cars or mine?
+After i Seafoam the crankcase, what oil should i use. I want to use a sythentic oil with lucas stabilizer. is that a good combination for our cars? I was looking, in particular, at Mobil1 + Lucas. How much oil do i need for the job? 4 quarts?
+My ABS light is on and my brake light is flashing. i have searched around and found out that i need to replace the ABS modulator. are there any tricks to installing/removing these? i was just wondering if this is the correct linky for the thing i need to order:

Any help would be great. those are just some simple questions i had about some maintainence that i wish to tackle coming up in the next couple weeks or so.
Just finally finished doing my fuel filter replacement today. Let me tell you! That can be a bitch and a half. thank god i took it to our shop and tried with the lift this time!
thanks!

I think its the same tool. It looks the same on my 1.8T 2000. I looked at this DIY : https://www.audiforums.com/m_156758/tm.htm

I plan on doing an oil change within 250 or so miles after the Seafoam treatment. Any perks to this? i have read about the benefits but is there any solid evidence against using this in our cars or mine? I just did my seafoam treatement for 150 miles in my crank. I think its more than enough for the seafoam to do the job. Result: smooth engine at idle, under normal acceleration you can barely hear it. My car is smoother for sure. My mileage is 105000 miles. The oil was really dirty when i did the change. I wasnt due to change the oil for an other 3000 miles.

See for yourself. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/images/lucas/lucas.htmSo in my opinion no need to add an additive to the oil.

awesome. thanks for the advice. im not sure about the lucas stabilizer. 5w30 sounds pretty good for me too. anything to watch out for when changing the oil after seafoaming it? these cars just like most others when it comes to changing the oil?

yes look out for the aluminum (looks like) washer when you change your oil. I didnt see it and lost it in the dirty oil. Once the oil has been changed i found the sucker on the bottom of the oil pan. I guess ill have to wait for the next oil change to put it back on.
Put some paper towels under the filter when you will take it off. It will leak on the side of the engine. You have to clean the mess after that.

I used redline MT90 in my car... got the special bit on ebay for about $15
it drove the same before and after but at least I know when it's been changed.
