2006 A3 opinions?
I'm looking at a 2006 A3 DSG. It shows 106,000 and is visibly clean and straight. No dings or dents and the interior is very clean. What should I be looking for? Of course I will take it to get VAG-COM but any other helpful hints would be appreciated. He is asking $12,000 which I think is about $2000 too high. Any opinions?

I'm assuming you mean DSG transmission?
Hard to tell without mentioning the engine. There are 2 major players - the 2.0t and the 3.2 v6 engines.
On both I would make absolutely sure the timing belt was done since they didn't add a chain until 2008 (I think). With that kind of mileage I would certainly hope they did that already.
Another known thing with all A3's in that year is a weak AC unit that breaks fast. Usually the compressor and drier will have to be replaced before 100k (so check it was done and that it is working).
Last thing I can think of is the cam follower on the 2.0t. That thing should have been replaced recently as well (every 50k preferably). When it goes it takes the camshaft and high pressure fuel pump with it ($$$$). The part itself is like 40 bucks and can be changed easily within less than an hour but is often neglected.

Yes it's a DSG and 2.0 Thanks for the heads up. I will have the shop check on those items if I choose to proceed.
