A6 - Can't Manually Unlock Car and Car Battery Dead
Hi
Can any one help?
I have just come back from holiday and the car battery on my A6 is completely dead and can't use the electronic key fobs.
I then tried the manual lock on the drivers side. I can insert the key buy it wont unlock the car. My car is 10 years old (55 reg) and never used the manual lock. I have tried WD40 but that's not made any difference.
I then got Green Flag out and they got a wire through the drivers window. The door locks wouldn't move as they are on deadlock. The guy also tried getting the bonnet release mechanism - but that didn't work either.
I have checked with Audi and their recommendation is that I'll have to break a window.
Thanks

In the end I broke the window.
However I was told later by a mechanic that you can pass a charge through the rear number plate lights which give enough charge to open the doors
i also fixed the lock so I can now manually open

Too late to help but for others: the battery died on my 2003 A6 at the airport and I was able to manually unlock the trunk, push down the rear seats, and access the cab. From there I could unlock the doors and pop the hood, and security jump-started me.
