My A7 has 9,000 miles on it since last August (rotated at 5,000). And my factory 20 inch Yokohama tires are almost worn out ! Dealer says there isn't a warranty from Audi on the tires. I can't believe this.

Anyone else with tire issues? Is it better to take this up with Audi direct or Yokohama?

try yokohama- the tires should have a manufacture warranty. audi wouldn't cover tires because they are a "wear and tear" item- which is fine, but 9k is way too fast.

contact yokohama, take some pictures if need be if you communicate via email, or if there is an authorized seller around, pay them a visit.

 

That is correct, tires on ALL vehicles (whether Audi, Ford, Kia or Bentley) are warrantied by the tire manufacturer, NOT the vehicle manufacturer. Tire warranty is always a tough thing to deal with as far as (most importantly) making the customer happy but also following Audi policy and the tire manufacturer's policy as well,,,,,,,,,,all at the same time. Forget to dot an "I" or cross a "t" and CHARGEBACK.
I'm assuming when you say worn out you mean evenly worn out? Wouldn't be a bad idea to have the alignment checked anyways, just to be sure........We've not seen any tire wear problems on an A7 yet and have a few out there with 15-20K on them.

 

I have had my A7 for about 17 months and have 15k on them and they need replaced. I was hoping to get more out of the Y.... 20 inch summer tires. They handle well but I am not happy with the tread life of these tires. The Audi dealership recommended the Continental all season tires. I believe I will try to contact the tire manufacturer as I haven't had uneven wear.

 

The tire rotation is an interesting point for the wear. I have Pirelli tires on my A4 2013. I asked about tire rotation when I purchased the car. The service manager said that for quattro equipped cars, there is no need to rotate tires. I still wonder if that makes sense. The front tires still travel farther than the rear ones regardless if all four tires are under power or not.

 

I have a 2013 A4 with 35,000 miles on it. At 30,000 it started a bit of a shimmy at high speeds. I was taking it in at 35,000 miles for its regular service so I just made the appointment a little early. After balancing the tires for a whopping $170.00, I was told they couldn't be balanced and that they are just about worn anyway. For a mere $1400, I could be the proud owner of 4 brand new performance tires. I drive 25 miles a day at a maximum of 50 MPH on these tires. When I called Audi, they told me they do not warranty tires. I am shocked. For the amount of money we paid for that car, I would expect at least 50,000 miles on the tires. My Subaru didn't need tires until we hit 63,000 miles and those tires endured 144 miles a day at 80 MPH. A Subaru Legacy is not know to be a performance vehicle! My Chevy, 53,000 miles and my Acura 58,000 miles before replacing the original tires. This is absolutely ridiculous. If Audi won't stand behind their choice of brand to put on their vehicles then they should be using a better quality brand. Disgusting!

 

No manufacturer technically warranties tires. It's the tire manufacturer's warranty that applies, it's just that usually the dealer will do the work but it gets billed to the tire maker.

Don't forget, the wider the tire, the less miles it will run and performance tires have softer rubber and won't last as long either.
