Default Major electrical problems no cl no windows no start

Audi A4 Cabriolet B6 1.8t sport 2004

Hi there,

This is my first post so I appreciate any help on this matter. I ran the battery down two months ago and charged it in situ. Same thing happened a few weeks ago everything again seemed ok.

Then a week and half ago the electrics started playing up the central locking key stopped working no power windows but still driveable. So last week the battery seemed kaput so bought new battery this run down in a day charged it back up took to work and checked some fuses then car wouldn't start and still not going also called out RAC but the diagnostic terminal not working!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

A lot of places will check your alternator for free. A bad alternator voltage regulator will send AC instead of DC, which can make a lot of things go wonky.

I'd also be careful about jump starting. If the alternator has been bad for a while, it may have fried some ECU-related things. They can't be tested without the vehicle running, though. So perhaps put in a test battery (or jump it, whatever is cheapest), quickly check the alternator output and run from there.

Thanks for the good help. I think I might have solved part of the problem as the comfort control module in the passenger well was under 6" of water. Tried drying it out but so far no luck looks like it's fried! One question though would this affect the ECU and or the immobiliser as there is still no start?
