I'm pretty sure everyone is going to tell you to upgrade. Likely the cheapest route is to get K04 since they are pretty much direct bolt-on. I'm sure more people will chime in...

In my opinion, K03s are garbage, plain and simple. Not solely because of their quality, but due to the fact that they are a gamble for lifespan, regardless of good or bad maintenance habits.
I believe this mainly because my K03s sh*t the bed at 60k with an immaculate service record that included full synthetic and recommended intervals.
On the other hand, some folks with upwards of 100k+ still have original K03s with not even a hint of a whistle.
It's a crap shoot. You just never know when it's going to happen.
For the simple sake of peace of mind and reliability, just upgrade them. You wont regret it if you plan on keeping the car for a few more years.

It likely won't cost much more to go with the K04s -- and like Red said, you're getting a more reliable set of turbos with the upgrade.

Along with that, you give yourself a lot of potential for more power. Whether you do it now or later doesn't really make much difference. You can get a Stage 3- tune for now, that will give you some time to save money for injectors, ICs, etc...

Taking the engine out of these cars is not a simple (or cheap) task. That being said, if you have the engine out, I wouldn't recommend to anyone replacing a set of turbos with another set of K03s.
