Default Stealth subwoofer install for 8L & 8P models

Just thought I'd post some info on the custom MDF sub enclosures I've been working on. I've been building these for a number of years for the old shape A3 and have just completed the 8P chassis version. The transformation to the sound from the stock system is incredible with this upgrade. Full clean punchy bass and clearer sound from the cabin speakers as well as they are no longer handling any low frequencies, and no loss of trunk space. The enclosure is custom built from 18mm MDF to replace the stock tupperware sub and houses the phenomenal JL Audio 6.5" sub. This is then powered by an Alpine V12 300wrms amp hidden behind the rear speaker panel. The amp is fed from the stock wiring via a custom made adapter (so no wiring has to be chopped). Let me know if you want more info.

wow very nice work. I like it a lot. do you have a video of the sound? I currently have a pair of 12" in the spare tire location, I like it but on long trips I get nervous without the spare.

It's not really a replacement for 10 or 12 inchers in a proper enclosure, more like how the Bose upgrade should have been done. It'll vibrate your rearview mirror but it's not gonna win any SPL competitions - it's a 6.5" sub afterall, a very good one but it has its limits. If you are looking to improve the sound dramatically in your A3 without losing any trunk space (or spare wheel) then this is the best pound for pound upgrade IMO.

Do you still make/sell these units?

What would the cost be shipped to the USA? You can use zip code 22202.

Thanks!

The enclosure on its own is £130 + shipping to the US an additional £30.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I was wondering if AndyMac still made the subwoofer setup? Just pick up an 2010 Audi A3. Hope if fits in there..

Yes still making them, as long as it's not a sportback it'll fit. Can't believe Audi went to the trouble of redesigning the standard sub just for the SB so they could indent the top of the boot panels ever so slightly to give you a few extra cm's of unusable boot space.
