I have a K&N air filter on my 2.7t, and my car MPG went up for about 0.3MPG. Otherwise I did not notice anysignificant performance gain.Since I do oil change myself, this turn out better because a. I don’t need to buy a new air filter, and b. doesn’t need to clean it often.

I have had a K&N in my 01 A4forabout 3 years now and I haventhad a CEL (beause of the K&N) yet. I cleaned the MAF for the first time a few weeks ago. You really need to let the Filter sit out and dry after oiling it. Dont just through it back in the air box and call it good. I would say go for it.

i've had a K&N freeflow pannel on my 03 A4 for almost 2 years now without any intake problems aside from my K04 blowing a bearring but thats my fault for not doing the exhaust and cat first :P

Have used K&N drop-in filters for over ten years on various vehicles (cars, truck, motorcycle). No problems whatsoever with any of them related to the filter. Small gains if any with power and fuel economy, but most of all not having to replace the filter is a big plus in my book. A simple clean and re-oil is all it takes.

For the daily driver, almost no maintenance, a drop in panel is the way to go.
For racing however you would want a cone, just note if it rains, water lock can accur...very bad.

if i change my clasic cartige air filter at 10.000 km (once at 2 month) and it costs less than 10 euro,it means that i spend 100 eur(aprox 140 usd) at 20 month(aprox 2 years)
I don't clean anything,i just exchange.
Does it worth?
Lot of people said" nr 1 for x&X filters,NO PROBLEM"
Wait a seccond....we exchange parts for benefits not for being used with no problems...
If the benefits are significant we accept a fiew problems, but with minor benefits??

Only my opinion,
i posted this to make you contradict with me and say:"the x&x air filter delivers air for engine, cooler with almost 4 dgrs than the conventional filters......etc etc"

Regards
