Probably The Last Problem I'll Ever Solve
Selling the car Friday (I hope!) and the guy wants to make sure my cruise control works! I thought it did, I'm fairly certain I've used it. Just to check I went for a cruise (haha) and lo and behold, the bitch is playing her tricks again. The car wont do cruise control. Probably doesn't wanna be sold. This is like god damn Paranormal Activity ****.
Anyway, some history. My combi switch went out (on a pitch black gravel road in the middle of nowhere of course. More cursed ****!) and I replaced it awhile back. I connected all the wires, but might I have ordered the wrong one? There are slight variations in the writing on each, but the connectors seemed to be identical.
So where should I look next into fixing this issue?
Also, what car should I get next (for less than three grand?) I'm thinking a pre 1990 4Runner. 22RE unstoppable motor and a removable top! I only plan on having this next car for less than six months, so its not a huge deal lol.

i don't know that much about the cruise control in these cars (or any car for that matter lol) but it seems to me there's gotta be more to the system than that lil switch. Like maybe a control computer or something? Maybe thats the problem?
lol, damn AudiForums! You're killin me!
Well I did a search and came up with this if anyone is interested:

Well I'm wanting to get a truck over the summer. It needs a strong, reliable motor but it can be a total beater. I dont want to worry about this truck, I dont want to fret about every little noise. A truck or something similar will allow me to just throw **** in the back. I plan on getting a job welding this summer making $25/hour at 40 hours/week. I'm gonna save my *** off and buy another, lower mileage, better condition A4 at the end of the summer. Or maybe a Corrado, or MKII GTI, but most likely another B5 . Love the Quattro! Then I'm gonna hopefully keep the truck so I can use it as transportation while the Audi is getting stuff done to it. (By me of course.) This next audi will be my project car.
i NEVER had cc in my car until one day i got mad because i almost got a speeding ticket and i didnt even realise i was going too fast. (heavy foot... maybe thats why i broke my gas pedal!) anyways, it VERY easy and i know NOTHING about soldering but this might be your only option.
There are some writeups on how to fix the cc module. it seems difficult at first, but once you get into things.
1) take off glove box
2) remove cc module (only silver box under there... 1 bolt holding it in
3)open up cc module
4) buy the cheapest soldering pen at wal mart (mine cost $5.88 at wal mart)
5) look on the diy thread to see what points to solder
6) solder the 3 points listed in the diy
7)replace cc module into glove box
8) go have fun! you will have a working cc module now!
It really is that easy. i was VERY sceptacle at first, but gave it a try, and vwolla, never had it skip a beat yet and its been a couple months!

I'm thinking its a vac leak, just have to find time to confirm. When I set speed it seems to hesitate like it wants to hold, then falls. Its as if the vacuum pump is sucking the actuator down, but a leak in the line trips the run-time and it fails.
