Default Allroad Drivetrain Vibration?

I have an '03 Allroad 2.7T with 6 speed manual transmission. The car has 130,000 miles (no turbo explosions yet!). The car experiences a shaking in the drivetrain while accelerating from 3K RPM's. The shift lever visibly vibrates back and forth and you feel a vibration in the seat of the pants.
My mechanic replaced the CV joints at each end of the driveshaft (he's able to do this without having to buy a complete driveshaft from Audi), yet the problem remains. I considered engine/tranny/subframe mounts but the drivetrain shouldn't make so much vibration to require good mounts to dampen the vibrations.

Any ideas?

I have seen the kind of problem you describe be corrected with half shafts. I know it sounds weird, but that what fixed this one.

Default vibration

Just this weekend my car started shaking when i'd go over 35mph. I thought it was alignment, engine, trans..... I took it to my shop and looked under it and my bellypan was loose. I was missing about 10 screws that the dealer didn't put back in after an oil change. Air would get under the bellypan and shake the hell out of it causing the vibration in my seat and stearing wheel. once i secured it a little better the shaking stoped.
i know this is something little but might be worth checking out.

I recently went through the same thing. If the problem you're describing is olny happening at certain speeds and gets much worse the harder you accelerate then it is 95% likely that you need at least one new axle. I found out that the heat generated by the turbos cause the inside cv joints to wear faster than usual. You can easily check by (when car is cool) reaching under and pulling on the axle, there should be NO MOVEMENT and NO NOISE. IF it clicks or the axle has play in it, then you need to get some new ones. Don't pay $700for Audi Alxes (and rebuilding them is usually only a temp solution); you can get new ones from Raxles or EMPI for $175 - $200 a side.

(1 - 2 hrs of service a side MAX)

Good luck!
