Default Allroad won't start first thing in the morning

I recently purchased an 04 allroad with the 4.2 V8 engine.

Problem is in the morning, when you try to start the car, you get nothing. No click, no solenoid sound no draw down of power etc. Turn the key off and then on again a few times and it will finally fire.

After that, it fires every time first thing.

It has been getting cooler at night recently.

So, is there a battery in the key that could be getting weak and not properly communicating to allow the vehicle to start?

Any other common issues I need to consider?

Thanks for looking.

Battery could be on it's way out... low amperage can cause such issues.

It's not the battery. Battery was just replaced. There was no indication of power drawdown by watching the voltmeter gauge when trying to start.

I just had an ignition switch replaced and this morning, after leaving the car out to challenge it in 30 degree temps, it fired up first thing.

So it appears it was the ignition switch.
