DIY Brake Job

DIY Brake Job
I'm looking at the brake warning light on my 2004 Allroad (125k miles). I have some experience with brake jobs on Hondas and would like to tackle this replacement job since there seem to be some very good online tutorials demonstrating how to get it done.
However, I'm not sure how to determine whether I need to do the front brakes, the rear brakes or both. The warning light doesn't tell me. Should I assume the front brakes since that's where 90% of the brake dust accumulates?
The tutorials I've looked at say that I should replace the rotors along with the pads up front. Is this good advice?
Does anybody have a good source for long-lasting replacement rotors and pads? I don't race the car and I've been very happy with the performance of the standard brake system.
Thanks.
