I thought you all may be interested in this upgrade. I just installed HIDs in my fog lights and the difference is staggering.

I have just finished the installation guide on how to install these HIDs in the fogs. You can find the details out here: http://sharphid.com/installation/audiallroadfogs.htm.
Don't hesitate to PM me here or email me at sales@sharphid.com with any questions.

John,
I can't find the e-mail you sent me, so I hope you see this.
I am interested in upgrading my fogs to 35w HID, and perhaps to also upgrade my high-beams to HID. Do all HID mods require new igniters and ballasts? Is there any way of combining mods to save space in the front end of the car?
I'll shut up and let you answer my questions.

John,
I dont know much about HIDs but one thing I know for sure is that upgrading your high beams to HID is gonna cost you since you have to get ballasts and some more parts needed to install HID properly.
Besides, how many times do you get to use high beams in a day??

I live in the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York, and we have a lot of country roads out here...so I have the brights on a lot.
Of course, I'm also jealous that wifey has HID hi-lows on her Saab convertible.
I could, conceivably, add driving lights, but I'm not sure that I want to mess with aerodynamics and lowering gas mileage even more.
Thanks for your answer, though.

To those interested in HID hi/lows, I asked my dealer about this when I bought my 04 Allroad w HID. They said they've never done it, never heard of it, and were leary of doing it for me (they'd try it, but...) because it would be a very expensive experiment. They weren't sure the mapping would switch over correctly from the OEM headlights to the new ones, let alone fit. The a6 avant that year was offered with the bi-xenons, but the 2.7T wasn't offered, etc. But the big objection was the mapping. Let me know if you've heard otherwise
I'm not sure what issues are coming up with this. The install even into the low beams and high beams are both very simple (assuming you don't have HID low beams). It is necessary to have both ballasts and bulbs but with kits I offer starting at $130 I wouldn't call it exactly expensive. In response to ccomengee the upgrade isn't going to cost any more than that. The kits are plug and play and there is no modification other than a hole in the access cap.
In summary our HID kits will be a plug and play installation into the low beams, high beams, and fogs on the Audi Allroad. The kit include the ultra slim DDM ballasts, a pair of bulbs, and the OEM wiring adapters. For low beam upgrade the bulb out warning harness may also be necessary. The installation is extremely simple and to date I have had no issues of the HIDs damaging the OEM wiring or electrical systems. The kits I offer start at $130 shipped within the US - certainly a great deal cheaper than the German alternative. Ours also have the option of a lifetime warranty - something the German kits are rarely offered with.
