Default Hole in center console::what is it?

Hi there,

I just bought a 2004 4.2L allroad. I have a hole in the area underneath the emergency brake.

Reading through the manual, it looks like there is a MENU type button/joystick that controls some other functions in the car. Either I don't have that button, or something fell through underneath the e-brake and has left a big hole.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! (I've attached a picture of the area.)

Speaking of which, where the hell do you find replacement cup holders? Are there aftermarkets that fit anything larger than a starbucks cup? I do believe that even the Audi travel coffee mugs are too large.
