I found a small, metal keyring type puller inside the jacking kit...but it appears to be broken and kinda small. Would a clothes hanger work?

 

yes, but the hanger will bend a bit, so try to find a wire with a heavier gauge.

Another way is if you have a small tech device screw driver you can wrap the end in a t-shirt type cloth and pry it off.

Its not hard.
