Default remove cup holders from center armrest

i have an '03 2.7T, don't need the cup holders & want to remove for more space. can this be done? lifted out rubber piece and found what looks like 2 screws, only its like a "fat" phillips. do i need a special tool? is this a mechanism to install a phone? should i just leave it alone?

If you are referring to the cup holders inside the armrest, then there is a phone adapter. You should be able to remove the holders. Not sure what you mean by the screws. Do you think it may be an oversized phillips head?

you need a pretty fat screw driver. its almost 1/8 inch thick. I took my biggest flat head and it worked. i was just nervous i mite mess up possible future use of phone, but it looks ok. I should have messed around with it a bit before asking here but you all seem to know so much. thanks

end of problem.

Good to know.
If you've got access to a camera, why not post this with pics. Show what you've done and what you plan on doing.
