Default My Turbo's Dont Work

Hi All,

I have had my 2003 Allroad for about 5 months now and I have noticed that my turbo's only work about 10% of the time. Does anyone know if they are prone to wastegate/puck problems, or am I looking at computer issues? Or worse yet, are the turbo's are bad?

Also, this may or may not have anything to do with the turbo's, but I have had 3 incidents where the car has put out a fairly large cloud of gray smoke (really didn't look white or blue, I know, not really helpful).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,
Becky

Unfortunately, no it is not under warranty.

Actually, my estimate that the turbo's work 10% of the time is probably a little high. I have only felt and heard the turbo's a couple times in the 5 months that I have had the car.

Becky,

if your turbos would be THAT bad - you prolly pushed the car more often than you drove it.

I am in Fort Collins. I don't have an independent shop that I use. Know anyone good in this area?

If you don't mind driving down to Westminster, I know an independent Audi/VW place that I think is pretty good down there... I've used it myself with only good results so far...

Floor it (yes, all the way down) on the freeway in 4th gear with the windows up and radio off so you can actually hear the turbos... they are pretty small, so it might be a little more quiet then you are expecting them to be. I bet they are working just fine, you just gotta use them!

Hmmm...If the turbos weren't working, the car would be slower than Sh@# and terribly underpowered. As for the smoke, sounds like you're burning oil and maybe lots of it if it's a big cloud.
