Default Tiptronic top gear

Alright folks, I know that the cost would probably make such a thing prohibitive but is there a way to change the gear ratio (either the final drive from the transmission or the fifth gear cog) so that the engine RPM would be more like 2200-2300 at 70 rather than 3000? It's not a dragster anyway but it seems the mileage would improve and the engine would last longer if it reved lower. Any thoughts?

Can the computer be changed to accept the taller tire size so the speedo is correct? Is it possible thru VagCom?

If you compare spec's of the 4.2 allroad tip to a 4.2 S6 tip you will see that the final drive gear ratio's are 3.908:1 for the allroad compared to 2.727 :1 for the S6. thats a huge differance. Can the allroad tranny be modified to the S6 final drive ratio?

Taller tires changes a lot of other things though. Looking at the list it appears that the other 17" tires 235/45 and 255/40 have circumferences of 1964 and 1940 respectively. I don't feel like buying new rims, I like the ones I have. I might be reading the chart wrong but it looks like the wider 17" tires are actually shorter?? Also, how large a tire fits before things start to rub? Thanks guys.
