I have a 05' 4.2, that it's time to put some new rubber on. Anyone have any suggestions for a good "all-season" tire? Thanks.

 

I work at costco, and when im home in the summers from school i work the tire shop frequently, all we sell is michelin and bf goodrich (which is now owned by michelin)

one of the best tires we sell, and what i will more than likely be putting on my car once mine wear out is the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, they also have the pilot sport a/s plus that has a 45,000 mile warranty (which i might add is crazy good for a Z rated tire)

Stock size as im sure you already know is 225/55/17 97H

they will run a decent amount, at costco i looked into the pilot sport a/s, stock size, and they were slightly over $900, dont know about the a/s plus yet, havent gotten them in.

its alot, but they are sick tires, my two co-workers run them on their cars, one has a 2007 cadillac ctx, the other a firebird. on the caddy, he cant get the things to break lose when cornering, they grip like no other.

I've had 2 sets of the Michelin Pilot Sport a/s.Great tires but I would only get a little over 30k out of them.With the mileage I drive it was costing me over $100 a month for tires.I now have the Goodyear F1 allseason.It has a better tread wear rating.I like it better in rain but it is noisier.

 

Maybe not.Most V8's are 245/45/18

K, cool. consider my post relative then . I didnt know, i have the 2.7T. in fact, i have not seen a 4.2 ar in person, haha. i have one of only 2 allroad's where i live, and luckily for me, the old man that owns the other one, happens to have same color, engine, wheels, etc. kinda makes me wanna steal his wheels to mount some winter tires on

 

only 30K really? crappy man. thats what i like about the a/s plus, now they are offering a 45K mileage warranty.

did you, or anyone else reading this, ever have the pirelli p6's on their car. it was stock from what i've read, and the owner i got the car from kept replacing with the same thing. they are noisy as well. he replaced them about 3000 miles before i got the car, so no sense in replacing them till they wear out.

 

we dont even have the 4.2 ar in Canada

I bought my '04 allroad last November with only 10.5K on the clock, and the original (Pirelli) tires were still on there...until the dealership found dry rot in them and put a brand-new set of the same on to honor the CPO agreement. The Good - a brand-new set of tires. The Bad - It's going to be a while before I acquire a new wheel/tire package.

As for the Pirelli 'allroad' P6 tires: they have decent grip and feel, but they are noisy. I'm hoping that they live up to their low mileage reputation, because I would like to put 18"s and sticky tires on for summer, and some Blizzaks on the OE wheels for winter.

Let us all know if you come across a great deal on performance tires at your workplace. Frankly, I have to replace the tires on wifey's Saab convertible soon, and it's got 18"s on there.
