what does that carbon intake connect to? where does it get cold air?

 

it doesnt connect to anything. there is a whole on the other side and a little funnel plastic piece. there are 3 screws holding the carbon piece on, and i took it off for a while, but i ended up putting it back on. i didnt notice a difference except for noise. the air like resonates in the carbon piece and it's a real deep sound.
