Mine went out at 92k with a performance chip and lack of proper care. It is insanly important to let your turbos warm up and cool down before driving/shutting the engine off. This means at least 45 sec. after you start the car, before taking off, and the same before you shut it off. This is usually stated for "after aggressive driving." But why fool around with the potensial $3000-$5000 replacement cost for new turbos.
My left side turbo blew at 57k miles with performance chip and with previous owner's turbo pressure setting, turned out somebody was messing with pressure and I was pushing 22 psi which is pretty insane for the K03s. Paid 860 just for the turborebuild, if these turbos are brand new out of the box never used, man its a sweet deal. But labor is still gonna be painful, its 20,2 hours worth of labor pulling motor out, replacing turbos and putting motor back, but once motor out its wise to do timing belt, water pump, check motor and tranny mounts, etc, I ended up spending 3700.
