you shouldnt be afraid to have a car without a title. if it is legal just title it through (i think) Kentucky. It costs $125 and all you have to do is transfer it to your state. They'll title anything. I've had more than one person i know around here who has done it and it worked without any problems. Just don't buy a stolen car. LOL
