Your answer will vary depending on whether you have Bose or not, a sedan or an Avant.

I have a c5 a6 with the bose amp and stock subwoofer, i installed a 15' single sub and a 1600 watt amp a couple years ago and has been working great since... i pulled power and ground as normal but i pulled remote from the plug on the factory amp and L and R channels from there as well, i just googled for a bose pin out and went from there... I got one of those wire to RCA converters and some wire splicers. It's a bit of a pain in the *** to get the splicers on cause the wires are tightly strung and there's not a ton of slack but a little patience and it'll go great! Good Luck! Hope I helped
