Default 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro - $3000

Fate has pushed my hand a little sooner than I had expected.
So it has come that I must pass along my faithful iron steed to another lucky rider.

Here are the details:

The time has come to pass on my beloved A4 to another, hopefully enthusiastic Audi fan.
I purchased the car in 2009 with I think about 109,000 miles on it from the second owner, back in Austin TX.
He had purchased it nearly new and had done all of the modifications which I will describe below.

The Good:
It's a 1998 Audi A4 Quattro sedan, silver exterior, black interior.
Interior is not leather but Audi's much better wearing and better looking vinyl. Having owned both, I much prefer this longer lasting interior.

Exhaust is a full stainless Neuspeed cat back system ($700)

Springs are H&R sport springs, which gives about an 1.5" drop, great stance and significant improvement in handling. (Original stock springs are included).

Wheels are Flik 16" matt titanium ($400)

Dieselgeek Short shifter installed

Days before I bought it in 2009 it had $2,300 of work done at Austin Veedub

Timing belt was done in December of 2008 at approx 108,000 miles

New tires installed by me 4/2011 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport ($600) transferable warranty through discount tires.

Car has been chipped for a mild stage one tune by Neuspeed, pulls a full bar (14psi) now which is good for about 190HP (as opposed to stock 140)

I replaced the original turbo with one with about 50,000 miles on it, and it is rock solid.

Vacuum and turbo piping given the once over twice, zero vacuum leaks.
Some upgraded vacuum hoses here and there.
all cylinders have good pressure within spec.

Always synthetic oil 5/30 as well as using higher capacity Mann oil filters than stock (this allows for more oil in the system, keeping it cooler and less likely to sludge.
New German coils, New MAF, New ignition control module.

New Interstate battery as of one month ago ($100)
I tended to replace electrical parts before they failed just to be sure.
Records, records, records, I have folders of records.

Phatnoise hard drive audio sytem installed and fully functional, allows you to play mp3s from a hard drive that stores in the trunk, but you control it from the head unit. Clean and way easier than ipods and all that.

Bose stereo is stock and surprisingly powerful and accurate for a car system

Will come with plenty of spares and extras.

This car is clean, quick and solid. I have seen a lot of used A4s and it is by far the finest cared for example out there.

The bad and or ugly:

1. power steering rack - I purchased it in 2009 knowing that it would need a steering rack replacement at some point but I never got around to it as it never really affected anything other than ugly stains on the garage floor. It goes through about a can of power steering a month give or take. When I lived in Austin I had a guy quote me around $600 for the job. It's the Koyo rack if you know what you are looking for.

2. Catalytic converter to turbo flange issue - driving home only days ago I heard an exhaust leak pop up and looked to see the cat had popped off the turbo exhaust flange. Any welding shop should be able to knock this out pretty simply.

3. Dent in passenger door - Someone backed into the rear passenger door last Thanksgiving, cosmetic only and the door fully functions. Quote for a new door shell is about $300. Again this wasn't enough of a priority for me to fix right away. There are a fewer smaller dings on that side as well.

4. Drivers seat has two tears that have hardly moved in the time that I have owned it.

I have done my best to describe the vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible.
Please ask if you have any questions I may have missed.

Car is located near Lafayette, LA, can meet you within a short distance.

Currently licensed and registered in Texas with clear texas title in hand.
Should be easy peasy to get it transferred to LA.

Assessing value is a little hard considering all the custom work done as well as the mechanical issues, but I am willing to negotiate to get it into another loving home.

$3000 seems like a good starting point.

Trade for wagons encouraged.
