Default 2001 Audi A6 4.2 Quattro Wide body Sport- $4,250 OBO

PLEASE READ THIS AD THOROUGHLY:

I have been a member here since 2006.

Before I begin I want to clearly communicate that this is not a scam or an attempt to be dishonest. I have owned several Audi’s, I know the cars well, and I am a European Car Enthusiast. All of my vehicles have been meticulously maintained and adult owned.

For your consideration is a 2001 Audi 4.2 40v Quattro Saloon. In 2001 this was Audi’s flagship in the A6 lineup. It was special ordered and every conceivable package and feature was included except for the sunroof solar powered fan. I could list out all of the features and amenities but members on this forum and individuals who know the vehicles need no explanation. Again, this car is fully loaded and optioned out. – Navigation included.

BASIC SPECIFICATIONS

MODEL: Audi A6 4.2 Quattro
COLOR: Silver Exterior / Dark Blue Interior – Ambience Package
ENGINE: 4.2-liter DOHC V8 40V
HORSEPOWER/TORQUE: 300 hp @ 6200 rpm/295 lb-ft @ 3000-4000 rpm
TRANSMISSION: 5-speed automatic with Tiptronic
WHEELBASE: 108.6 in.
LENGTH x WIDTH x HEIGHT: 193.4 x 76.1 x 57.0 in.

The vehicle currently has 124,xxx original miles on the odometer. All of the necessary engine maintenance has been performed i.e. timing belt, water pump, seals, pulleys, and tensioners all replaced at 90,xxx miles. The car had a new intake installed by Barrier Audi at 80,xxx miles and has had regular oil changes to include, air filter etc. I never switched to fully synthetic and always have used Mobile 1. I have all of the records filed away in a manila envelope and they will be made available for your review. The engine runs like a Swiss watch. No oil leaks, ticks or abnormalities. There is full power from 0 mph to redline.

Let me get to why the price is well under blue book value. The transmission shifts perfect through all forward gears but reverse is starting to slip. We all know this is a common problem and one that plagues the V8 A6’s and V8 A8’s. I went to battle with Barrier Audi when it was still under warranty and told them the tranny was beginning to act up. They replaced the fluid to include the TC and replaced the filter and gaskets. Keep in mind I am a very picky, finicky person when it comes to vehicles and the slightest tick or lack of smooth operation had me under the hood and poking around. Audi deflected saying there was nothing wrong with the clutch packs. The problem, and this is thoroughly documented from Audi, is that the reverse clutch packs prematurely fail and despite what they service departments and manuals say, there is absolutely no such thing as lifetime fluid. The transmission will either need to be replaced (not advised) or re-built. Reputable shops in my area have quoted $1500 -1800 for the job.

The car accelerates, shifts, stops, and operates flawlessly. You just can’t park the car on a steep hill and expect to back up. In the near future the car will also need control arms, tires, and it may be a good idea to change the CATS. I never have done these changes because if it is not broken or failing, I do not fix it. I mention these items because my previous Audi had these parts replaced but it also had over 140K on the clock. The price also reflects having to do these repairs in the near future.

Electrically, everything functions. Cold AC, all lights work, sunshades work, there are no defects in the displays, dials or controls. You can eat off the interior. It has been kept clean and kids/smoke free. There is no unusual wear or tear. The interior is 9 out of 10. The exterior is 8 out of 10. There are no major dings, dents, rust spots etc. All of the moldings taillights, headlights etc. are intact and clean. Guys, the car is **** except for the transmission.

I have had this car in storage for close to a year and it is time to let it go to someone who can fix the car and enjoy it. I have treated this car like one of my kids but I have moved on and I realized recently that I have 3 cars and do not need a fourth. This is a solid driver with lots of life left. I am not trying to make a fortune and the price reflects the necessary repairs that need to be made to ensure the car lasts another 10 years. For those that know these 4.2 V8’s, it is one of the most reliable motors Audi has ever made and they run far past 200K if taken care of.

DO NOT answer this ad if you are a kid looking for their first Audi. DO NOT answer this ad if you are not intimately familiar with these cars. DO NOT answer this ad trying to impress me with your knowledge of Audis and your attempt at purchasing the car for a ridiculous amount. I know them inside and out upside down and backwards and have been around the Audi brand for 20 years. I am not in a hurry to sell and am not desperate for money. I also don’t have the time to give you Audi 101 lessons. Please do your research before you call. I am however interested in discussing this with mature, well rounded individuals who would like to get more information about the car and set up an appointment to view it in person. I have this listed as OBO and I am open to realistic negotiation.

My name is Paul. I can be reached at 206.617.0649
The car is located in Lakewood Washington

Pictures can be supplied upon request.
