'99 A8 4.2 Ltr Quattro
Hello Audi-ies,
I love her and always have. I had the idea of fixing it up, I had the idea parting it out... But, "The best laid plans of mice and men". I am getting a divorce. She, the wife was and is the love of my life. We had been heading towards an amicable, mutual, co-parent-y blissful separation, which has left me now in can be compared to the fifth level of Hell. Neither of us were un-faithful and we shared in the destruction. I know, TMI. But, I'm not a D%*k and you should at least know that.
But this has to be replaced with money for the aforementioned debacle. I have no access to my house and thus, no access to my garage. It's going to take too long to accommodate any major long-term projects regarding this machine. So, goodbye time.
First, the bad...
1. I have no title and never will.
I bought this from my wife's uncle, Shawn if you must know, 2 years ago who had fallen on hard times as an IT coding specialist. He took excellent care of it, but smoked in it with no real lingering effects. He lost the title and procrastinated about getting a duplicate from Topeka. Then, like any sensible Kansan, he parlayed his depression, MBA, and the $4500 I gave him for the car into a very successful crack addiction. Major-league! He has no ID, no home, very little memory of his former affairs, and worst of all. He has abandoned all intentions of ever dealing with this car. Topeka is an old-school farmers Capitol and isn't going to get me anywhere. And I can't deal with it any more.
2. The tranny has become a bit of an a$$hole!
Reverse works fine, then you shift to drive, or any other forward gear, and open the throttle a bit, eventually it drops/slams from neutral to 4th gear. So, it's slow off the line, but it drives fine. I just babied it up to speed for a while and highway, it's fine. Never diagnosed. I don't drive it anymore as the tags are finally expired and I don't need the hassle.
3. Leaks oil.
I keep it full, start it and run it a couple times a week. Check the level and top it off when I need to.
That's it.
So, you have a really equipped loaner car, or a bureaucratic project.
AC blows cold. The stereo is factory, BOSE, sounds great. Original CD changer in trunk works.
Has manual, and 1 key, flip out.
Heat works, as do all the seat heaters. The leather is tan and has seen it's better days, I don't think it's beyond repair. But, I'm no expert. I would have tried but lost all drive, and again, I need the cash now.
The body... Left side just got hammered, I will update the pics soon. and the front bumper is toast. Other than that... Its awesome.
It's throwing a few codes, haven't checked them, but the CEL started coming on after the Tranny got all pissed.
The cruise doesn't engage and the SRS light is on.
No pixel problems on dash/stereo.
