FS/FT WI BMW M3 coupe $11500
Price reduced to $11,500
As much as it pains me to do this, I think the time has come to sell my M3. I’ve found that owning this car in the state of WI just isn’t fun. I want to be able to drive my car year-round, and this car is simply not an option. I’ve been driving a second car in the winter, but I just can’t deal with the two-car scenario any longer. It pains me to see my baby, sitting under a car cover 6 months out of the year. I’m open to trades, but looking for a Subaru at this point. I’m thinking a GC8, WRX wagon, or Saab 9-2X Aero. I’ve got to have AWD and a manual transmission.
Well here goes. For sale is my 1997 BMW M3 coupe, VIN #WBSBG9327VEY74144. I purchased the car with 97,000 miles in September 2004 from a seller in Maryland. The previous owner bought the car with 80,000 miles in June 2002 from the original owner in Pennsylvania. I am the third owner of this car. The car has been garaged it’s entire life. The previous owner says it has never seen snow while he and the original owner have owned it. I have never driven the car in snow either. The car has never been tracked or auto-crossed. I did do a touring session on Road America during the summer of 2005, but you are limited to the speed of the pace car. Since owning the car, I have been an active member on bimmerforums, and I have numerous contacts that can vouch for the condition of the car.

Recent Maintenance / Other New Parts:
The previous owner mis-shifted and over-revved the motor bending the valves. There was no damage to the pistons, but the car does have a new head, timing belt, and tensioner (replaced at 85,000 miles)
New coil packs, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and front O2 sensors in 2005 (I was chasing a mis-fire and found the front O2 sensors had their connections swapped)
Compression test (peak) results were 190, 190, 190, 192, 190, 190
Radiator, water pump, low-temp thermostat, all coolant hoses, clutch fan delete, and new BMW coolant in 2006
New brake pads (Axxis Ultimate’s), rotors (OEM), Goodrich stainless brake lines, ATE Super Blue fluid in 2006 (About 50% life remaining)
New clutch and flywheel (OEM), throwout, pilot bearings in 2006
Shocks, springs and mounts were changed to current in 2007
BMW Z3 steering rack and new fluid in 2007
Tie-rod ends, ball joints, control arms, all bushings in 2007
Rear trailing arms, bushings in 2007
New drive belts in 2007
Optima Redtop battery in 2007
Oil changed every 5000 miles with BMW full synthetic oil
Transmission and differential fluids changed 2007 with Royal Purple products
I’ve got quite a few parts lying around as well. I’ve got the stock trunk with spoiler, the factory air box, intake manifold, lots of misc. sensors, etc. These are all included with the vehicle if the buyer wishes. I also have a Pioneer DEH-P6400 head unit that I can include if the buyer wishes. I swapped this head unit out because I rarely listen to CD’s and wanted the stock look with iPod integration.
The bad:
The car is currently in the body shop getting the rear strut mounts replaced. Test drives and visits will not be able to start until the car gets back.
The car has a small crack in the front windshield from a rock. This will be replaced by my insurance with OEM glass before the buyer picks up the vehicle.
There are a few stone chips on the front bumper area
The driver’s side wheels have 2” of curb rash on them, but are not bent.
The car will need tires within the next year.
I’ve decided not to fix the wheels and replace the tires. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on the wheels, but I realize they are not for everyone. I’ve adjusted my asking price to reflect these things and you can either have the wheels repaired or replace them with something else of your liking.
Pictures:

These are the only interior pictures I have of the car at the moment. I will take some more once the car gets back from the body shop. The interior is basically stock except that I removed the ashtray from the center console and converted it to an iPod holder.
Asking Price?
The base price from the following sites is:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
………….....Trade in…Private Party...Dealer Retail
Edmunds: $8300……..$9500………....…$11200
KBB:……….$6000……..$8000………....…$1 1000
NADA:…………………………………..... ..……$11400
Average Private Party value is $8750
Add mods: $7085
To recreate a M3 in this condition and trim would cost:
$8750 private party value + $7085 mods = $15835
I know that as far as mods go, you will never get 100% back in the price of the car. I feel, and others have said the same, that my car has been very tastefully modded. Some would argue that the carbon fiber should be painted, others will argue against it. I left it unpainted for this very reason. If you do not like the look of unpainted carbon fiber, the option is there for you to have it painted. Either way you are getting close to 80 pounds of weight savings over the stock components. Factoring in the stock trunk and all the extra parts and I am asking $14000. All the maintenance is up to date, and I have no doubts this car will drive for another 100,000 miles easily.
Again, I am open to offers and trades (plus or minus cash).

Price lowered to $13000 OBO. Here's a link to the autotrader ad with more pics and a better description. http://www.autotrader.com/ATCarID/AT-e7432a4 I've found a replacement car so shoot me an offer by the weekend and I might just take it.
Price lowered to $12500.
If your coming from out of state I'd be more than willing to negotiate covering your airfare as well. I've got a lead on an OEM hood so that will be included as well.
