Just replaced head and T-Belt AND...
My buddy and I started the vehicle and it is leaking oil from the head right behind the alternator. Is there something that we missed? We pulled the valve cover to check that our bolts were all torqued and that none were loose and none were. We followed the correct torque patterns, we made sure that the head seated properly and everything. This was our first 1.8T build though and all I can think is that I missed something. I feel like **** because it is my buddies car, I talked him into buying it, I told him that I could fix it and now this. I know it is a minor stumble but I can't for the life of me figure out why in the hell it is leaking.
Brand new head.
Brand new gaskets everywhere.
Correct torques and torque procedures were followed.
Cleaned the hell out of the gasket surface on the block.
This is not a small leak either. It is leaking a fair amount when the vehicle is started.
Any ideas or help? Anyone come across this before?

youre the ****** idiot that posted your thread here and twice in b5's... dont come on here and insult people if you are in need of help... Its your fault you dont know what youre doing and i feel sorry for your friend that is losing out big time because you made false promises... we all started out trying to help you, but YOURE IN OVER YOUR HEAD.

youre the nice guy that posted your thread here and twice in b5's... dont come on here and hug people if you are in need of help... you know what youre doing and i feel excited for your friend that is winning big time because you made good promises... we all started out trying to help you, but YOURE THE SHIZNAT.
As for me being in over my head, simple mistake. Head gasket was flipped 180 front to back and it took me a while to figure it out, big deal. This is my first Audi rebuild but definitely won't be my last. My friend is now happy as a clam, he trusts me and I have been honest with him and told him "Hey bro, I fucked up" no worries. I assure you that no false promises have been made. I am the friend that pays for what he screws up (yes rare breed indeed). So he knows that anything extra will be taken care of by me. I also am going to replace his head if this one ***** the bed due to possible oil starvation. So next time don't jump on me because I get pissed that some jack-off makes a stupid remark. There is alot of money at stake in this rebuild and I was not paying attention to where I was posting because I was a little stressed out so for that I am sorry. Are we square?
