2007 A3 3.2 DSG Stutter at low speed
Hey guys I just got a 2007 A3 3.2 with 56,000 miles. The car seems to have a bit of a stutter in first and reverse. The stutter in first occurs when starting from 0. If you delicately press the accelerator, bumper to bumper traffic delicate. (RPM's under 1000). When the car stutters the rpms flick over 100 and then back under and over and under again until more gas is applied. The stutter occurs only when starting from a stand still not from rolling stops or other cases once the car has gone past second gear. In reverse the stutter occurs modestly without applying pressure to the gas peddle but is more pronounced when light pressure is applied to the gas.
By stutter i mean that it feels like you're giving it gas then lightly braking quickly then giving it gas again.
Is this just a virtue of the DSG being based on a manual transmission or could something be wrong?
As a driver coming from a standard automatic (2006 A4 3.2), who has not frequently driven a manual?
Additionally... does this car come with launch control?
Thanks for all your help!

You should check whether your DSG is in the recall campaign. There were issues with the mechatronics which affected 2007-2010 cars.
You could also perform DSG re-adaptation, where it recalibrates all the pressure/clutch parameters. Procedure is here:
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index..._%28DSG/02E%29
No Launch Control. But you can try the ghetto way, which is to fool the car to think it is in neutral while it is in Drive so you can rev up the engine and drop the clutch. Procedure is:
Put car in Neutral.
Turn ESP off
pull up handbrake slightly so car won't roll (you should keep button pressed down)
Put foot on brake
put shifter between N and D
release footbrake
pop shifter into D
if car wants to engage clutch (or PRNDS is not blinking), repeat the whole process until car feels like it is in neutral.
rev engine to desired RPM
at the same time:
-tap on brakes
-release handbrake
-floor the gas pedal.
As soon as you tap the brakes, the car would all of a sudden realize it is not in N but in D and proceed right away what it would do if it was in D.

So I have almost no mechanical knowledge or tools so I assume the recalibration is out of the question.
How do I check to see if the DSG was recalled?
Finally I found this thread while looking around and I'm wondering if this is just the simple answer...

I posted another thread inquiring about my 55k service interval and I asked this there but I figure it's worth asking here as well...
My milage is fairly pathetic right now. 15.4 city. Will the new metatronics unit and DSG tuning help with this?
