A3 2.0T Quattro coming soon to USA
Reference this discussion:
"Yesterday afternoon, I sent an email to Audi (via the Audi USA website) stating my frustration with the lack of the Quattro option on the A3 2.0T. They called me this morning in response to my email and said they are planning to bring the A3 2.0T Quattro to the US as either a 2008 or 2009 model. He said, most likely, it wouldn't be until 4th quarter or so in 2008 which I assume would make it a 2009 model. He stated they had received many inquiries concerning a 2.0T Quattro model especially from those in bad weather states (he was located in Michigan)."
I certainly hope this is true, because it increase USA sales quite a bit for the A3! [sm=type.gif]

Who are you that they called you back. lol. That's good stuff though. I own an A4 and would be curious to know how some of you A3 owners feel about the quattro thing as it will probably add wt. Its still a good option though.
Hi All-
Is the current Quattro all-wheel-drive that is standard on the A3 3.2 SLine a Haldex or is it the Torsen variety? I'd have to research the exact differences, quite honestly.

The current Quattro on the 3.2 S-line is a Haldex.

New tidbit from AudiWorld.
Audi A3 / S3
"One the best tidbits we picked up at Sebring was confirmation that Audi will eventually be offering an A3 2.0T quattro in the US. With its sporty turbo powerplant the A3 2.0T is not only easily modified for even more owner fun, but the aforementioned powerplant is well suited for the A3βs size and market segment. That said some buyers have either opted for the A3 3.2 β just to get sought-after quattro all-wheel drive β or have failed to purchase altogether perhaps looking to the Japanese competition instead.
Audi of America recognizes this gap and will address the issue, although timing is still uncertain.
The subject of a US model S3 inevitably comes up. Audi has officially not ruled this variant out, although in our mind it appears to be a remote possibility. A more realistic prospect is a very-well sorted A3 2.0T quattro with special engine tuning, exhaust tuning and body / interior treatments. This so called A3 βSportβ could produce the type of performance and features that these owners seek at a better price point β and without causing Audi to have to Federalize the 3-door A3 for the US.
On the topic of that particular Federalization we were actually told β for the first time anybody here can remember β that it is a little closer to reality. It still feels like a long shot, however."[/i]

Interesting point. Audi already offer an uprated 2.0T in the A4, nothing to stop them dropping it in an A3 and presumably avoiding your 'Federalisation' process. It would still be an A3, not an S3.
