Default A3 bonnet stuck

Hi all

My bonnet is stuck on my 2004 3.2 V6, most likely due to a seazed mechanism. Cable has not snapped or disconnected as still has tension in it.
Have tried everything that the internet has to offer and still no joy. Can't remove grille as top is screwed and screws are only accessible from under bonnet. Can't access from underside of car as 3.2 is such a big lump there is no room to get arm in behind radiator.
Could someone be so kind as to take some photos of the mechanism on their A3 so I can see what it looks like and how it works? My only chance is to try to manually operate the catch from between the grille and bonnet so could use a few pics to help.
Thanks in advance!

Get someone to carefully pump down on the bonnet over the catch whilst you pull on the release lever.

Also try tugging UP hard as well, it may release the catch whilst the cable is pulled.
Search google images for a3 bonnet catch etc.
