As a former Mustang,300 and RAM owner, I am new to the 4Cyl Turbo. At what RPM does your A3 sit at idle? (@~800) And, are you able to hear a slight engine “tapping” noise from the inside of the car? (I know sounds tend to be relative, but I would only expect to hear this sound if looking under the hood)
Just wondering if the sound and RPM were normal or if the REVO remap has anything to do with it. Otherwise, I have no problems with performance and all…..she’s really fast!!!

heck, i forgot how that iddle tapping sound sounds like....... after than dp and CAI, there's some wrooooosh here and a vrooooom there. can't hear the tapping nemore.

 

what oil are you using? minimum should be 05W/30-or 40 synthetic, it could be injector noise so a system cleaning additive might help or at worst their could be a rat on the exhaust doing a tap dance lol

 

The old fuel line issue, maybe?

 

Like drumdork said it may be your fuel line tapping, does this tap go away or persist thru out?
I dont think its a rat it might be a possum they tap

 

FSI create that tapping noise ?

 

I have that freaking tapping noise myself. When the car idles under 1000 rpms that thing starts rattleing. I've just been too lazy to take it in to get fixed. I'll probably just have them do it at my 5k service.

Also, the tapping persists throughout. I hear it when I first start the car and when I return before turning it off.

 

I think it's the car "figuratively" tapping its fingers waiting for you to chip it! Don't make it wait too long.

I have the same tapping. My car has less than 5k on it and it has been making this noise since I took it from the dealership. The one I test drove also did it as do the A4s (2.0T) the dealer has let me borrow. I'm going to say that it's an inherent trait of the engine. I know you would kind of expect the car to be quieter at idle since it's only a 4 cylinder, but I think you'll find that if you take it in to the dealer they will tell you what I've already said. If you do take it in and they are able to fix it, keep us posted.
