I just recieved my cargo mat today. My first impression is that it doesn't fit nearly as well as the picture on the A6 mat. I will post pictures once my phone is charged.

Hopefully over time it will fit better. The mat seems a little smaller and the sides don't seem to fit as snugly as I would like.

Just took some pics of the mat. Keep in mind, it was rolled up when it came so I'm assuming(hoping) it will fit better over time.

As you can see, the lips of the mat doesnt fit perfectly. The mat needed some encouragement to even get to the postion it was in for these pictures. Any suggestions/hints to get it to fit better?

Wow, thanks for the pictures, dzasta; those are very helpful.

Sorry I can't help answer your question!

that's exactly how mine fits. the best i can do is fold it up under the angled seatbacks, but it still fits like crap. there's a huge space on the left side in the corner, too. i stopped by the dealer today and tried another one to no avail. the parts department was no help. can you email those to AoA and see the official response from headquarters?

Suggestion- If the part is a rubber compound take it out and let it sit in the hot sun for a few hours and let it get loss and flimsy. Then put it back in and press it into place. When it cools it should take in the form that you have put it in. Another suggestion if you have acess to a heat gun us it to heat the lip when its in place and have an ice towel with you. So when you heat up the lip press it the way you want then cool it of quick and let it shrink into place. I had this problem with a few cars that I have had with all weather mates. The sun way worked on my Jetta's but had to use the heat gun on when I had the honda(yuck) sorry a3night or should i now say s2knight thats different honda.

Good idea.

Let me know how it works, because this still is something I very much want for my abused trunk.

Cheers!

that would be fine if the thing were the right shape to begin with. if you look in the two corners against the seat, they're not nearly the right shape (there's an extra bend in the rubber) and the left corner against the trunk isn't even covered all the way (about a 2 inch gap). it can definitely be crammed in there without heat; i got the lip against the bumper to sit right by folding the lip up under the seat. i guess i was spoiled by the mat in my forester, which you could just throw in there w/o a problem and it was much sturdier than this one. this thing is uber-flimsy and i think they charge too much for what it is.

here's how the carpeted one fits:

notice that the hooks aren't covered by this one, either. apparantly it's rubber, covered in nylon, comes with retainer blocks and is CHEAPER than the one that doesn't fit.

Hey thats the same on I got for my Dad for his Passat TDI. Its deffinatly nicer. Doesn't have as big of a lip but you can take it out hose it down let it dry and throw it back in. It even had blocks you could buy that velcroed in and could make compartments in your trunk. Were did you find it. Its not even in the extras cataloge for the A3?

RE: 4RINGSROD

Great point! The mat actually sits MUCH better now after having baked in the sun. I took the top cover off and I could tell that when heated up its much more 'workable' and then sets as its cools. Ill post up pics Monday.

I saw the carpeted mat and was pondering btw the two. However, I need the rubber mat for my dog as he still pee's a little when really scared or excited. Dont want to take any chances. Here's the link to the carpeted mat.
